Walking through Yemen felt like stepping into another world. From a paint factory hidden deep inside Tarim to wandering streets that feel untouched for centuries, this journey kept getting more unreal by the minute. I explored Tarim, stepped inside Dar al-Mustafa for Islamic Sciences, and then entered one of the most surreal places on earth, Shibam.
A city built entirely from mud. Not small houses, but massive vertical towers rising up to 10 to 12 stories high, all made from earth. Standing on top of these buildings, you canโt help but think, how is this even possible? How is this still standing? And how safe is it really? It feels like walking through a living miracle.
And then something even more unexpected. In a place I never thought Iโd find it, I uncovered Jewish history hidden deep inside Yemen. From there, the journey kept moving, a night in Seiyun, more remote towns like Alhajrain, and then everything suddenly flipped.
The only flight out. One of just four flights per week. Canceled. No backup, no way out, completely stuck.
